Speed Sensor System: General

Role in systemConnectionsCAN componentTypical Error patternService & Maintenance Recommendation
The speed sensor system signals the motor that the rear wheel is moving, which is one condition for motor support.Connects directly to the motor.NoIf the speed sensor system is faulty, the motor stops supporting after a few seconds and a MOTOR ERROR occurs.Regularly clean speed sensor magnet on wheel – accumulated brake pad dust can cause false speed readings and motor errors in worst case

(MasterMind TCU) Light Y-Splitter-Cable (optional, SL systems only)

Overview

  • Important note: this light splitter should only be used with SL systems; Full Power motors have dedicated light motor ports
  • Integrates at the (MasterMind) TCU to connect cabled, rated lights
  • Part number: S216800001
  • Output data: 12V only / 8W / 650 mA max.
  • WARNING! Running unrated lights can cause permanent damage to the Turbo battery
  • If you also wire a rear light, make sure power consumption of both lights does not exceed 8 W/650 mA max.
  • Comes with yellow warning sticker that also reads the output data
  • IP67 protection rating

Installation notes

  • Retailers should carry out the installation of splitter and lights for their Riders
  • Ensure the crimp connectors are fully covered by the insulation sleeves and shrink tube to prevent short-circuiting inside frame
  • Many front lights do not feature an ON/OFF switch, which means the lights are on when the system is on (safety feature)
  • Lights can be switched off during charging the battery by turning the (MasterMind) TCU off – charging will continue
  • Installing rear lights is either not possible or requires additional modifications
    • Dropper post does not allow routing through seat post
    • Routing through seat tube and seat post requires suitable seat post (see Vado SL non-EQ models)
    • Routing requires removing the internal battery and the motor
    • Rear light needs to be attached to saddle or seat post
  • Depending on the bike, you may need a different frame cable entry port to accommodate the additional light cable

Important note: this light splitter should only be used with SL systems; Full Power motors have dedicated light motor ports
