5. Definition: Traditional Diagnostics vs. Digital Diagnostics (S-App and Turbo Studio)

Traditional Diagnostics

Hereby we mean following a standard procedure to identify an issue and find a solution. These are mostly checklist items that also require trying new Turbo parts.

Digital Diagnostics

Hereby we mean using digital tools to identify an issue and find a solution. Certain Turbo bikes have the capability of being diagnosed remotely with the Rider and in store by the retailer. See below overview for details.

Digital Diagnostics with the Rider (S-App):

Riders see ‘User Actions‘ for live errors reported by the Turbo system. If the User Action does not solve the problem, Riders can upload their latest ‘Advanced Diagnostic‘ report to get further support from their Retailer. The transfer of the data requires a WiFi or cellular data connection. Please explain this function to your Riders when introducing them to the Specialized app during bike handover.

Digital Diagnostics with Turbo Studio (Retailer):

If the ‘Advanced Diagnostic‘ report has been uploaded from the Specialized app, and the bike is still with the Rider, Retailers can use the bike serial entry in Turbo Studio to access all available information.
In the ‘Bike Information’ menu, Retailers can open the Event Log to identify next actions. ‘User Actions ‘ is information available to the Rider in the app at point of error and can be re-communicated. Service Actions are actions purely aimed at helping the Retailer in store.

When bike with full digital diagnostics capability is in store with the Retailer, they can physically connect it to Turbo Studio. All the information displayed is the same as the Diagnostic Report uploaded through the app, with the advantage of seeing the latest and historical Turbo system data. The transfer of the data is done in the background as soon as the bike is connected and turned on.

Digital Diagnostics for Turbo Vado/Como with BLOKS. Displays

Whenever possible, Turbo Vado/Como bikes equipped with BLOKS. components (MY17-19) should be converted to a Specialized TCD-w system. Please contact your market Rider Care team for details.
Other than that, the BLOKS. system parts need to be updated through a dedicated website. The process is explained in the ‘Connectivity Guide’ that is available through the link ‘How to connect’ on the start page of Turbo Studio. This BLOKS. diagnostic and update program also allows you to set a time zone and service interval. Beyond that, diagnostics are limited to checking for later firmware.
